I agree with you. But there is an interesting tension being revealed in the evaluation returns. Whilst some of the participants clearly valued the chat channel others seem to have found it a distraction to what they saw as the main proceedings of the conference - the presentations by the speakers. I guess we all have different ways of learning and it may also be that for those not used to learning on-line, the multi channel communication enabled by platforms like Elluminate may seem both unfamiliar and overwealming. I wil write a report on the evaluation returns and highlight some of these issues once we have a few more returns. Thanks Heike. I agree with you. Several comments were silently placed in the text chat and moderators like Graham and Cristina and others skillfully selected and verbalized the questions and comments. What a beautiful way of communicating. I often badly miss this in real conferences. What could perhaps be done also quite nicely are discussions between experts and real interviews.
