    Hi Silva

I wonder if you could help us.

We are undertaking a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in the United Kingdom with the University of Wolverhampton. One of our modules is Strategy for Public Sector and Social Enterprise and our group has chosen to look at the following: -

‘A comparative study of further education marketing strategies, for employer engagement in the UK and Austria’

Successful employer engagement is about understanding employers business needs, delivering solutions on their terms and successfully achieving the agreed business outcomes.

In the UK, employers may place some of their employees on a course in a further education college. They chose from a list of courses that the college offers. However, generally, employers have very little say as to the content of the course, so courses are not tailored to meet the needs of the company and therefore not always appropriate.

In the UK the government are encouraging colleges to engage more with employers to identify their busy needs and even tailor courses to suit. Employers in the UK are very often only interested in making a profit and don’t always see the logic in training their staff to improve the status of the company to increase profits. To employers, training therefore, is not a priority and hence colleges are finding it very difficult to engage and communicate with them.

We are therefore looking at ways to try and improve colleges’ marketing strategies to engage more appropriately with employers to encourage training by establishing their business needs.

The University of Wolverhampton have chosen the beautiful city of Vienna for us to carry out our international research. We would therefore appreciate any information you can share with us on how colleges engage with employers in training and in particular what marketing strategies are used.

We are due to visit Vienna at the end of March so any information or even a contact name would be gratefully received.

    Thank you for your time.
